Welcome to Mercy’s Education Department

Mercy’s Education Department is committed to offering quality educational opportunities to both our staff and our community. CPR, First Aid, PALS, and ACLS courses are offered on a regular basis. Additionally, the department offers workshops, lunch-and-learns, guest speaker lectures, etc. Some of the more recent classes and events hosted here at Mercy include the following:

  • American Sign Language (ASL) Class (6-week course provided by graduating college students from St. Scholastica)
  • SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter Training (provided by NOAA in Duluth)
  • Drugs In Our Community (Moose Lake Police Department & Carlton County Sheriff’s Office)
  • COPD Treatments (Thrifty White, Moose Lake)

Education Center

Mercy’s Education Center is comprised of several educational areas designed to meet the needs of the various programs offered to both staff and community members. The Center is comprised of the following rooms, all of which have teleconferencing capabilities:

Education Classroom: A large, multi-purpose classroom with a seating capacity of 120 (60 in meeting style with movable tables)

Mock hospital rooms: Working models of an intensive care patient room and an emergency treatment room are connected to the Education Classroom for joint or individual use

Education Demonstration Lab: Classroom with 8 working patient room set-ups designed for group education

Education Demonstration Classroom: Smaller meeting room with round table seating capacity of 15 people

Education Computer Lab: Small classroom with 12 computer stations plus an instructor station connected to a projection screen
