Foundation Gala raises nearly $14,000 for imaging unit

Home / Foundation Gala raises nearly $14,000 for imaging unit

Each year during the month of October, The Mercy Foundation hosts an Autumn Gala. This year’s Gala was Saturday, October 7 at the Holy Angels Social Hall in Moose Lake. The theme was “A Picture Perfect Evening.” As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, The Mercy Foundation geared their focus to raise funds for Mercy Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department for 3D Mammography. Proceeds from the Gala will go towards the purchase of a Trident Imaging Unit for Stereotactic Breast Biopsy.

Chances are, you know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Mike Delfs, CEO Mercy Hospital added, “Using 3-D mammography makes it easier for doctors to catch breast cancer early. This imaging is now available at Mercy Hospital and our goal is to help catch more cancers than seen on a regular mammogram.”

At the Gala, residents and local businesses from our service area and beyond gather to give financial support to Mercy Hospital and have fun doing it. We had a full house with nearly 150 guests. The departments and staff at Mercy are a big part of the success of the event as they donate gift baskets that we include in our Silent Auction portion of the event. Major Sponsors play a key role as well. Security Jewelers designed a beautiful diamond necklace especially for the Gala as a raffle item. We thank everyone for their kindness and support as we raised nearly $14,000. It truly was “A Picture Perfect Evening!”
