Nursing Support Coordinator – Full time

Provides administrative coordination to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the nursing units, and support the work of management and other staff.  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Patient Care Services, this position provides administrative and secretarial support for the nursing managers in Inpatient and Outpatient Services, and the Director of Patient Care Services.  Responsibilities will include scheduling and payroll; screening calls; managing calendars; making travel, meeting and event arrangements.  Training and supervising other support staff (HUCs) and covering when HUC’s are gone. Communications and meeting documentation, quality improvement participation and customer relations. Requires strong computer (preferably Meditech, Excel, Word), and Internet research skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients and vendors. Sensitivity to confidential matters will be required.

Qualifications: Associate Degree is preferred.  Previous proven experience and expertise in first line management and/or coordinator position commensurate with the clinical demands of a departmental position (3-5 years) with excellent performance appraisals.BLS, HUC Certification and Notary recommended, or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Medical Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technologist - Full Time

Mercy Hospital has an immediate opening for a Full-time Medical Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technologist on a rotating shift.

Qualifications: Medical Lab Technician: Applicants must have obtained an AA Degree as a Medical Lab Technician, ASCP or NCA and must meet the qualifications as per CLIA requirements to perform high complexity testing. and have computer skills. Must be able to work independently, be able to rotate weekends, holidays and to able to assume on-call hours.  Ideal candidate should have past experience in a hospital laboratory and have computer skills. Medical Laboratory Technologist:  Applicants must have obtained a BA Degree from a four year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience as per CLIA requirements to perform high complexity testing. Must have ASCP certification.  Must be able to work independently, be able to rotate weekends, holidays and to assume on-call hours.  Ideal candidate will have past experience in a hospital laboratory and have computer skills.

Nutrition Assistant – Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a Casual (.4 FTE) Nutrition Assistant. Shifts will be 4, 6, or 8 hours, day/afternoon/evening shifts.  Under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Nutrition Assistant will interview and assist patients with meal selections, and will deliver patient meals directly to the patients on the nursing units.  In addition this position will portion food in accordance with regulations, use standardized recipes, clean food preparation areas, tray line, pots and pans, equipment (must be able to use all equipment in kitchen, includes ovens, mixers, steamers, slicer, dishwasher,  steam jacketed kettle, and blenders). Maintain pot and sink area, work on patient tray assembly, employee cafeteria and special functions.  Must be able to work in a cook capacity and be able to cross train into all dietary positions.

Qualifications: Applicants must be a minimum 18 years old, High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 months related experience preferred with the ability to read, write, understand and follow written and oral instructions.  Must be available to work scheduled shifts and call availability.

Admitting Clerk – Part Time

Mercy Hospital has an immediate part time .8 FTE (8 hour Day, Afternoon/Evening, and Night shift) opening for an Admitting Clerk. This position may work any of the shifts listed above, depending on the needs of the facility, but will mostly work afternoon/evening shifts. This candidate will interview incoming patients or representatives, and enter information required for admission into computer system.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize.  Must have basic computer (MS Word, Internet, and Email), accounting, word processing and clerical skills.  Exceptional customer service and communication skills are also required.  Three to six months related experience is desired.

Paramedic – Full Time

The position requires three, 12-hour, shifts per week with every other weekend rotation.  Primarily a night (6pm-6am) shift position.  With the potential to be scheduled for a day shift.  A minimum of one on-call shift is also required per month. The primary responsibility of this position, while on duty, involves working as a member of the Emergency Medical Team responding to 911 calls, assessing, transporting sick patients and administering medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies. In addition to responding to 911 calls, the first four hours of the shift (6pm-10pm) would involve duties assigned by the Ambulance Supervisor, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.  The next 8 hours of the shift (11pm-6am) would involve working in the Emergency Department of the hospital, administering patient care, monitoring and treatment of Emergency Department patients, when assistance is needed. 

Qualifications: One year certificate from college or technical school. Preferred is an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  NR EMT-P, ACLS, PALS, current Minnesota driver’s license, with ITLS or PHTLS desired.

Paramedic – Casual (2 openings) 

Two casual paramedics (12 hour shifts) with the ambulance EMS department.  Involves working as a member of the Emergency Medical Team responding to 911 calls, assessing, transporting sick patients and administering medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies. Will also work in the emergency department of the hospital, administer care and treatment of emergency department patients when assistance is needed. 

Qualifications: One year certificate from college or technical school. Preferred is an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  NR EMT-P, ACLS, PALS, current Minnesota driver’s license, with ITLS or PHTLS desired.
