Terms of possible affiliation under review
Mercy Hospital and Essentia Health continue to explore a possible affiliation, with Essentia Health currently reviewing terms and conditions developed by Mercy for the proposed agreement.

Mercy’s Board of Directors and legal counsel developed terms and conditions for the proposed affiliation and submitted them to Essentia in meetings on Nov. 7 and Nov. 30. Essentia is currently reviewing the proposed terms and will develop a response by mid January.

While the proposed terms are under review, Phase 3 of the due diligence process will be put on hold. Mercy’s Board of Directors will review an amendment to extend the Memorandum of Understanding with Essentia at its December meeting.

“While this does extend the process, both Mercy and Essentia recognize the importance of having a strong framework in place that meets the needs of both organizations and the communities we serve,” said Jason Douglas, Mercy CEO.
