Mercy extends MOU
In its December meeting, Mercy Hospital’s Board of Directors extended the Memorandum of Understanding with Essentia Health regarding a possible affiliation to March 31, 2012.
Essentia is currently reviewing terms and conditions developed by Mercy for the proposed agreement and will develop a response by January 30. While the proposed terms are under review, Phase 3 of the due diligence process will be put on hold.
Mercy is also in the process of setting up a community educational forum in January that will focus on the impact of health reform on rural hospitals. Additional forums to address the possible affiliation will be held at the end of phase 3 of the due diligence process when operational questions can be addressed.
